Softball to Face Two Top 25 Teams at Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

The 49er softball team (4-4) will travel to Cathedral City, Calif. Thursday-Sunday to play in the always competitive Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic where they will face two NFCA top 25 teams.
Long Beach first faces No. 4 Tennessee (10-0) on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 3:30 pm. Gametracker and a live radio broadcast will be available for that game. To listen, click here. On Sunday, Long Beach will first face UNLV (5-5) at 2:00 pm, followed by Syracuse (3-1) at 4:30 pm to wrap up the tournament. Below is a link to gametracker for the UNLV game.

In the latest Big West Conference standings, Brianna Stephan currently ranks first in batting average with .478, while Hannah De Gaetano ranks seventh (.385). Karli Sandoval ranks first in slugging percentage (.947), while Stephan ranks fifth at .739 and De Gaetano is seventh (.692). Stephan's on base percentage of .538 ranks second in the conference. Sandoval is tied for third in runs batted in (11), while De Gaetano is fifth (10). Sandoval is also tied for the conference lead in home runs with four.
As a team, the 49ers rank fourth in batting average (.277), and third in slugging percentage (.446). They have scored the fourth-most runs in the league (41) and are fourth in RBI with 36. LBSU ranks second in home runs with eight and is tied for first with fewest doubles allowed (5).
