Big West Statistics Get Acrobat Reader

The 49er softball team will head to Las Vegas this weekend to play in the Easton Desert Classic. The team will play five games in the tournament as Head Coach Kim Sowder is just two wins shy of the 200 win mark at LBSU.

Long Beach (2-1) will play No. 7 Oregon (11:15 am) and Seattle (1:30 pm) on Friday. Saturday they play in another doubleheader with Nevada up first at 3:45 pm, followed by Oregon State at 6:00 pm. The team wraps up play on Sunday when they face Utah at 1:30 pm.

Coach Sowder heads into the weekend with a 198-132 all-time record at The Beach after posting two wins (Wright State, Cal State Bakersfield) and a loss (Texas A&M) in the opening tournament of the 2013 season, the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at UCLA last weekend.

Senior Brianna Stephan currently ranks first in the conference in on-base percentage (.750) and batting average (.714). She also is third in the conference in slugging percentage with 1.143. Junior pitcher Erin Jones-Wesley ranks third in the conference in batters struck out looking with eight, while she's fourth in strike outs with 13.
