49ers Ride Huge Day From Ashlynn Booker To 8-0 Win
Long Beach State extends its winning streak to six games.

Fullerton, Calif. - Ashlynn Booker went 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs, driving in five runs as Long Beach State routed Fresno State 8-0 in six innings to open the Judi Garman Classic.
Booker's two-homer day gave the senior five homers on the season, as the 49ers continue to crush the ball, slugging .534 with 23 home runs in total on the season.
Ashley Holmes singled to put a runner in front of Booker in the second inning, who then scored as the senior doubled for her first RBI of the game. The Beach then took a 2-0 lead in Booker's second at-bat of the game in the fourth inning, a solo home run to left field.
Long Beach State (13-6) broke the game open in the fifth inning. Shayna Kimbrough began inning with a single against Fresno State (10-6), and a single and a hit batter loaded the bases for Karli Sandoval, who brought home a pair with a base hit. With two left on for Booker, she pulled her next home run to right, bringing home three more runs home for the 49ers.
Leading 7-0 in the sixth, a sacrifice fly from Sandoval scored Kimbrough after a leadoff walk to end the game early.
Meanwhile, while Booker and the offense stole the headlines, Erin Jones-Wesley put up another outstanding start, collecting another complete game shutout with eight strikeouts, giving up just a pair of Bulldog hits. The senior improved to 7-3 on the year with the win.
Long Beach State remains at the Judi Garman Classic tomorrow, playing two games, one against Houston at 10 a.m. before facing San Jose State at 5:30 p.m. Live stats for both games can be found at www.longbeachstate.com.
