Softball Falls to Utah on Final Day of Easton Desert Classic
Feb. 17, 2013
Long Beach State (4-4) dropped its final game at the Easton Desert Classic, falling to Utah 3-1 on Sunday. During the tournament, LBSU defeated Seattle and Nevada, but fell to Oregon, Oregon State and Utah.
The 49ers got on the board first after Hannah De Gaetano crossed home plate on a throwing error. Both teams were then held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Utah drove in a run with a double.
Utah then followed that up with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the 49ers could not get a score as the game would end in Utah's favor, 3-1.
Erin Jones-Wesley (3-3) got the start and pitched six innings, while striking out 10 batters.
Up next, the 49ers head to Cathedral City for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, Feb. 21-24.
