Las Vegas,Nev. - Freshman Summer Pohl's grand slam was the exclamation point on a seven-run third inning against Utah State, as Long Beach State rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to take an 11-3 win over the Aggies in five innings. The win was the second shortened victory of the day for the Beach.

Long Beach State (6-3) started out in a little bit of a jam against the Aggies. Jolene Koons doubled off of Amanda Hansen, then advancing on an error to third base with one out. Koons then came home to score on an RBI groundout, giving Utah State (0-7) the lead.

Hansen surrendered two hits to open the third inning, and a double from Jazmin Clarke gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead. Christian Carbajal came on in relief, and despite walking a pair to bring in a run with the bases loaded, got out of the inning with a popup from Victoria Saucedo.

The 49ers then went to work in the bottom of the third inning with the top of the order at the plate. Shayna Kimbrough and LT Torres singled to start the inning, and a bunt single by Haley Tobler loaded the bases with no outs. An error in right field brought home two runs, and a double from Julia Lombardi tied the game at three.

An infield single by Darian Tautalafua loaded the bases for Pohl, and the freshman came through with a huge hit, lifting a homer to left field to make the score 7-3 in favor of Long Beach State.

After pushing across another run in the fourth, Long Beach State finished the game by scoring three more in the fifth.

The 49ers close out action at the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas tomorrow, playing Northwestern at 11:15 a.m.
