FRESNO, Calif. - Nalani St. Germain homered in the top of the eighth inning to lead Long Beach State to a 4-1 extra-inning win over Fresno State in the Fresno State Tournament on Sunday.

St. Germain launched a one-out, three-run home run to left field scoring Loni Tyler and Leilani Tupua-Tautalatasi to give LBSU the lead. St. Germain's blast was the 17th of her career, moving her into sole possession of third place on the all-time home run list at Long Beach State.

Erin Jones-Wesley shut the Bulldogs (3-2) down in order in the bottom of the eighth to win her third game in as many starts in the tournament. Jones-Wesley (3-0) pitched her third complete game of the tournament, allowing just one run on a solo home run over eight innings. She scattered four hits, while striking out three. In her three starts in Fresno, Jones-Wesley gave up just four runs in 22 innings. She struck out 24, while allowing just 16 hits in the tournament.

Long Beach State (3-2) jumped out to the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Tupua-Tautalatasi hit her first career home run with two outs in the inning. She finished the five-game tournament with a .368 batting average with a home run and two RBI. She went 7-for-19 with a .632 slugging percentage.

Michelle Moses, who picked up the loss despite allowing just five hits in eight innings, tied the game with a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning for Fresno State.

 

 

Tupua-Tautalatasi led LBSU going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. St. Germain, Dana Garcia and Jennifer Madigan had the other 49er hits.
