49ers split two games at Fresno State Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - Long Beach State split a pair of games for the second day in a row at the Fresno State Tournament beating Toledo 5-1 before losing to North Dakota State 8-0 on Saturday.
Long Beach State (2-2) wraps up the tournament Sunday when the 49ers play host Fresno State at 2 p.m. Freshman Leilani Tupua-Tautalatasi led LBSU with four hits in the two games, while freshman Shayna Kimbrough and junior Dana Garcia added three hits.
Game 1: Long Beach State 5, Toledo 1
The 49ers avenged a loss to the Rockets on Friday with a 5-1 win on Saturday. Sophomore Erin Jones-Wesley (2-0) picked up her second win in as many games throwing her second straight complete game. Jones-Wesley scattered five hits, while giving up one run and striking out nine.
Toledo (1-4) jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the bottom of the second, but LBSU answered with a run in the top of the fourth. Senior Megan Denio singled up the middle to score pinch runner Alisha Rosen to tie the game.
The 49ers took the lead in the fifth on an Emily Gregorio single to right that scored Garcia, before adding two more runs in the sixth. Tupua-Tautalatasi tripled to right to score Hannah De Gaetano and then stole home as part of a double steal to put LBSU up 4-1.
Kimbrough added another run in the seventh when she drove in Gregorio with a single.
De Gaetano, Kimbrough, Tupua-Tautalatasi, and Garcia had two hits each for the 49ers.
Game 2: North Dakota State 8, Long Beach State 0
Tupua-Tautalatasi had two of the 49ers five hits but it wasn't nearly enough as the Bison pulled away late handing LBSU an 8-0 loss.
Long Beach State trailed by just one run heading into the bottom of the fifth, but NDSU erupted for two runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to end the game.
Freshman Amanda Hansen (0-2) picked up the loss going 4.1 innings while allowing three runs on eight hits.
