Puerto Vallarta - Long Beach State battled back with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game with No. 21 James Madison, but the Dukes took the lead in the top of the tenth and held on for a 6-4 win in ten innings over the Beach.

The contest was once again tight throughout as Cielo Meza and James Madison's Payton Buresch each only allowed one run through the first six innings. James Madison (3-2) broke the deadlock with an RBI single from Oddici Alexander in the third inning, while Long Beach State (4-1) evened up the score in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on a Dukes error to get a run across.

The Dukes regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning with a two-run home run from Ashley Samuels, but the Beach bounced back in the bottom half.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and two on, Nichole Fry singled to right field and the Beach took their chances, sending both runners to the plate and both scored, taking the game to extra innings tied at 3-3.

Devyn Magnett worked out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the eighth, and Long Beach State had an opportunity, sacrificing the placed runner, Jessica Flores to third base. A long fly ball gave the Beach an opportunity for the win, but Flores was tagged out at the plate to keep the game going.

After neither team threatened in the ninth, James Madison scored the tiebreaker runner as well as two more, and the Beach was only able to plate one in the bottom half.

Long Beach State is back in action on February 16, playing five games as part of the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The Beach starts by taking on Iowa State at 6 p.m. next Friday.
