Returning for the 2014 season to the Long Beach State dugout will be volunteer assistant coach Ralph Levy. This will mark the 25th season that he has been involved with the LBSU softball program. Levy's duties include assisting head coach Kim Sowder with game preparation and management.
During his tenure at LBSU, Levy has coached in 15 NCAA Regionals and three of the 49ers' five Women's College World Series appearances.
Levy's association with the Long Beach State softball program began in 1984 under long-time former head coach Pete Manarino. Levy was Manarino's good friend and classmate at Pius X High School in Downey, Calif.
Levy is retired from the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Social Services where he was employed for more than 30 years. Levy and his wife, Delia, reside in La Mirada.
