Softball dropped its opening game of the Long Beach Invitational to Virginia Tech 6-1 Thursday night at Mayfair Park.
Long Beach State (2013): A First-Team All-Big West selection for the second time in her career ... Earned a place on any team for the third time ... Finished second on the team with a .350 batting average while starting in 51 games ... Slugged .503 with six doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI ... Walked 14 times and as hit four times while striking out just five times during the season ... Finished the year ranked as the ninth hardest player to strike out in the NCAA ... Led the 49ers with 19 multi-hit games on the season ... Hit two home runs, driving in a career high five RBI with three runs scored against Seattle (2/15) ... Also had two hits with three RBI against Nevada (2/16) ... Had a pair of hits against both Utah (2/17) and Tennessee (2/21), as she had eight hits in five games ... Kicked off an eight-game hitting streak with a 2-for-2 day against Fresno State (3/3) ... Hit .583 (7-for-12) in a three-game sweep of UC Riverside (3/29-3/30) ... Had another three-hit game at Pacific, tying a career best (4/13) ... That started a streak of four straight games with multiple hits for De Gaetano ... (2012): Selected for All-Big West Second Team... Named Big West Player of the Week for her performance in the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in which she had three multi-hit games out of the five starting off going 3-for-3 against Indiana (2/17) with a homerun and two RBIs, and continuing against Texas Tech (2/17) going 2-for-3 with two doubles... Finished with a strong .329 batting average and .480 slugging with 29 RBIs, 11 doubles, and five homeruns... Had 74 put-outs and 79 assists while at third base.
(2011): Named first-team All-Big West after hitting .320 with two home runs and 17 RBI ... Ranked as the 48th toughest hitter in the country to strikeout ... Finished third on the team in hitting, while ranking second in on-base percentage (.419), doubles (8) and sacrifice bunts (8), third in hit by pitches (5), fourth in total bases (54), and fifth in slugging percentage (.432) and walks (18) ... Hit .412 the final 19 games of the season, going 28-for-68 with one home run, six doubles and 11 RBI after being moved to the leadoff spot ... Had a nine-game hitting streak where she hit .394 with one home run, three doubles and eight RBI ... Had a seven-game hitting streak where she batted .577 (15-for-26) with three doubles and three RBI ... Had multiple hits in 10 games, including a 4-for-4 effort with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in the first game of a doubleheader against UC Davis on April 16 ... Had three hits twice, a 3-for-4 effort with a RBI against Ohio on March 23, and a 3-for-4 game with two doubles and two runs scored at Cal Poly on April 22 ... Had two hits against Utah State (2-for-2 with one RBI), at UC Davis (2-for-4), at Cal Poly (2-for-4), vs. UC Santa Barbara (2-for-6 with a home run, and RBI and three runs scored), vs. Cal State Fullerton (2-for-4), at UC Riverside (2-for-3 with two RBI) and vs. San Diego State (2-for-3 win one run scored) in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament ... Had multiple RBI four times, including a season-high three twice (vs. UC Davis, vs. Cal State Fullerton) ... Hit her first career home run in a win over St. Mary's.
High School: Played four seasons at San Pedro High School, earning four varsity letters ... Named first-team all-city and second-team all-area as a senior after hitting .433 with 24 RBI ... Also had a .456 on-base percentage, a .598 slugging percentage, a .942 fielding percentage and scored 32 runs ... As a junior, named first-team all-city and all-area after hitting .343 with 28 RBI ... Also had a .393 on-base percentage, a .535 slugging percentage, a .988 fielding percentage and scored 17 runs ... As a sophomore hit .331 with 20 RBI ... Also had an .374 on-base percentage, a .449 slugging percentage, and a .903 fielding percentage while scoring 20 runs ... As a freshman hit .359 with 13 RBI, while finishing with a .390 on-base percentage, a .564 slugging percentage, and a 1.000 fielding percentage while scoring 12 runs.
