Long Beach State's 22nd trip to the postseason came to an end on Saturday, as Long Beach State lost to Notre Dame 10-1 after defeating Southern Utah 9-6 in the 49ers' first game of the day.
Karli Sandoval had two hits, including a double, but a quick start for Notre Dame proved too much to match for Long Beach State as the 49ers fell 8-0 in six innings.
Long Beach State had three NFCA All-Region selections, tying the most in school history, as Cya Neal earned another second-team selection in two full seasons at The Beach, while Erin Jones-Wesley and Ashlynn Booker each earned third-team honors.
It's playoff time as Long Beach State enters the first round of the postseason, traveling to UCLA for the Los Angeles Regional. The 49ers open play against No. 20 Notre Dame at 3 p.m. on Friday, and will also compete in the double-elimination round with the hosts, No. 2 UCLA, as well as Southern Utah.
