Kaitlin Fregulia Named United Soccer Coaches All-West Region
Sophomore defender selected to Second Team
LONG BEACH, Calif. – After being named Big West Defensive Player of the Year, Long Beach State defender Kaitlin Fregulia was selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s All-West Region Second Team. The organization made the announcement on Tuesday.
Freguilia was a key component to a Beach defense that finished the season with nine shutouts while posting a 1.11 goals against average. She was stout on defense creating numerous shots for her teammates throughout the season.
The sophomore out of Torrance, Calif., played exceptionally well on both sides of the ball as she added a pair of goals, both of which were game-winners, while dishing out two assists for six points on the year. Fregulia took 13 shots with seven on target in 14 games, before seeing her season cut short due to an injury.
Despite not being able to play all 18 games, Fregulia made a major impact on the pitch when she was able to play.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all,” Fregulia told the Daily 49er. “It is very humbling to know that I’m respected in that way, considering I didn’t get to finish out the season.”
Fregulia helped the Beach finish the year with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-3-2 Big West ledger.
