IRVINE, Calif. - Junior midfielder Eileen Maes (Oakland, Calif.) has been named the Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday.

Maes accounted for three of the team's four goals in Long Beach State's two games at the Under Armour Invitational in Fullerton, Sept. 14-16.

Maes opened the tournament by scoring twice in a narrow 3-2 double-overtime loss to Texas Tech on Friday. After the Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead at the 49:19 mark, Maes connected for the game-tying goal just under seven minutes later. She then struck again to give the 49ers a 2-1 lead with 19:07 remaining in regulation.

On Sunday, Maes scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 69th minute of a 2-0 win over Army. For the weekend, Maes, who was named to the Under Armour Invitational All-Tournament Team, led LBSU with three goals, six points and seven shots.

This was the first player of the week honor for Maes and the second for Long Beach State this season. Alex Balcer was tabbed the Big West Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27.

The 49ers (6-3-0) return to action on Friday, Sept. 21, when they close out their non-conference slate against San Diego. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at George Allen Field.
