Hannah Sanders Earns Co-Big West Offensive Player of the Week Honors

LONG BEACH - Long Beach State sophomore midfielder Hannah Sanders has been named the Big West Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Sanders shared the honor with Cal Poly's Elise Krieghoff. It was the first career weekly award for Sanders.
Sanders registered two goals and two assists in LBSU's home victories over Cincinnati (4-1) and Loyola Marymount (1-0), extending the team's winning streak to three games.
The Valley Center, Calif., native notched the game-winning assist in the 63rd minute of the 49ers' triumph over the Bearcats. It was her second helper of the day as she was also involved in Long Beach State's first goal at the 53:02 mark. Sanders went on to add an insurance goal in the 73rd minute.
Sanders returned to the pitch two days later to lift LBSU to a 1-0 shutout win over Loyola Marymount. She delivered the game-winner on a fast sequence just 39 seconds into the second half. After receiving a cross in the middle of the box, Sanders' point-blank shot was knocked away by the LMU goalkeeper, but she pounced on the rebound and converted on the second chance. Sanders finished with a game-high three shots.
On the weekend, Sanders was tops on the team in goals (2), points (6), shots (4) and shots on goal (3).
Long Beach State hits the road this weekend to face a pair of SEC teams in Georgia (Sept. 13) and Auburn (Sept. 15).
