LONG BEACH - Long Beach State senior midfielder Eileen Maes (Oakland, Calif.) has been selected to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll the website announced Tuesday afternoon.
Maes' national recognition comes following her late-game heroics that sparked LBSU (1-2-0) to a 3-2 win over No. 23 Texas Tech.
Trailing 2-1 in the second half, Maes scored her first goal of the season and 10th of her 49er career to even the playing field at the 87:17 mark. Then, just over two minutes later, and with only a few seconds left in the game, she delivered a perfect pass to freshman Mimi Rangel in the box, who connected for the game-winner. Maes finished with two of Long Beach State's five shot attempts.
Maes and the rest of the 49ers return to action this weekend when they host Cincinnati (Sept. 6) and Loyola Marymount (Sept. 8) at George Allen Field.
