LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State women's soccer team broke into the top 25 in the most recent Soccer America poll after going 3-0 last week with a pair of wins over then nationally ranked Washington State and Virginia Tech. The Beach began the week with a 1-0 victory at Fresno State before heading to College Station, Texas, for the Aggieland Invitational Tournament, where it upset No. 21 Washington State and No. 16 Virginia Tech by identical 2-1 scores. LBSU (3-1-0) earned a No. 24 ranking, finishing ahead of Wake Forest and Monmouth, who both tied for 25th. Long Beach State made its way into the top 25 for the first time since 2008, when the 49ers won their third consecutive Big West title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Long Beach State returns to George Allen Field this weekend as it plays host to Utah State (Sept. 3) and Sacramento State (Sept. 5).
