Imani McDonald Named Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Junior goalkeeper tallied a pair of shutout victories last week
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State junior goalkeeper Imani McDonald collected a pair of shutout victories in net to record her first-ever Big West Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.
McDonald helped the Beach defeat No. 22/16 Northwestern and San Diego State with identical 2-0 scores. She recorded six saves total while playing in all 90 minutes in both matches.
The Long Beach State defense limited the top-25 Wildcats to just six shots, with only one on target, while McDonald recorded one save in that win.
The product out of Long Beach, Calif., went on to collect five saves on the road against San Diego State to help the Beach secure a 2-0 record on the week.
McDonald and Long Beach State will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 1, when they host Dartmouth in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. at George Allen Field.
