Nadia Link named to 2012 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior forward Nadia Link was named named to the Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch Lists for 2012 that was announced on Monday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the MAC. The MAC Herman Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer presented annually in January during a banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. The Missouri Athletic Club has been presenting college soccer's players of the year awards since 1986. Each list will be narrowed down by NSCAA members from Division I programs to 15 semifinalists by November 29. Member coaches and fans will then vote for their top three choices and the finalists will be announced December 6. The winners will be announced at the awards' banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. Link played a key role in the team's success in 2011 as she amassed a Big West leading 16 goals, 10 assists and 42 points. The Rowland Heights, Calif., native tied the 27-year old school record for goals in a season and became just the third 49er, and first since the program was reinstated in 1998, to reach double figures in goals and assists. She also ranked among the top 15 in the nation in those two categories. For her efforts, Link was tabbed the Big West Offensive Player of the Year, and was also a first-team All-Big West and NSCAA All-West Region selection. Link will enter her senior season ranked among the Long Beach State top 10 in career shot attempts (4th, 130), points (5th, 59), goals (6th, 24) and assists (T9th, 11).
