Aug. 11, 2017

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State women’s soccer team wraps up their preseason scrimmages on Sunday, August 13, when the Beach host reigning National Champion USC at George Allen Field at 6 p.m.

The Beach have been solid in their first two outings of the preseason posting a 3-0 win over the Beach FC Women’s, then following that with an intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday night in which the Gold Team shut out the Black Team 4-0.

This Sunday, Long Beach State will face USC, which begins the season with a No. 3 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after capturing its second national championship.

A year ago, LBSU defeated then-No. 11 USC, 1-0, at George Allen Field in the regular season. In that contest, Dana Fujikuni netted the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of action to propel the Beach to a 2-0-1 record.

Long Beach State went on to finish the 2016 campaign with a 10-7-4 overall record, while the Trojans completed the year with a 19-4-2 mark.

Sunday’s scrimmage will be a ticketed event, with tickets on sale for $9. Senior (60+) and youth (3-12) tickets are on sale for $6. Doors to George Allen Field will open at 4:30 p.m.
