Beach Soccer Picked To Finish Second In Big West, Three Chosen As Preseason All-Conference
Chloe Froment, Ashley Gonzales and Katie Pingel were all picked for the 11-player Preseason All-Conference Team.
Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State was picked to finish second in the Big West preseason coaches poll, earning a pair of first-place votes as the Beach is slated to once again challenge for the Big West title.
UC Irvine took the top spot in the poll, earning three-first place votes to just edge Long Beach State at the top of the order, while Cal State Fullerton was just behind the 49ers despite also receiving three first-place votes from the coaches. CSUN was tabbed fourth, in front of the UC Davis who picked up the final first-place nod, while UCSB, UC Riverside, Cal Poly and Hawai’i rounded out the list.
The conference’s coaches also selected the 2018 Big West Preseason All-Conference team, and three players from the Beach were among the 11 players chosen. Juniors Chloe Froment and Katie Pingel along with senior Ashley Gonzales were selected, as the trio looks to lead the Beach back to the NCAA Tournament in 2018.
Long Beach State kicks off the 2018 campaign this weekend with a preseason exhibition against UC Irvine at the Great Park in Irvine. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., with a pregame reception open to all in attendance starting at 5 p.m.
