Softball/Soccer Clubhouse Groundbreaking To Occur Wednesday, March 14

March 12, 2018

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State is proud to announce that the groundbreaking of the new soccer/softball clubhouse will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m., just before No. 21 softball takes on Texas Tech at the LBSU Softball Complex.

President Jane Close Conoley and Andy Fee are scheduled to speak at the event, as are head coaches Kim Sowder and Mauricio Ingrassia.

Major contributors Doug and Sandra Leafstedt and Cindy Masner will also have the opportunity to address everyone that has made this project, one of the pressing capital improvements for Long Beach State Athletics, a reality.

The clubhouse will be sited in the corner of the softball complex nearest to the entrance to George Allen Field, allowing for easy access for both teams, and will include individual lockers, sports medicine space and team rooms for both programs. Previously, the two have been using public locker rooms in the Kinesiology building and the Walter Pyramid for team meetings and sports medicine treatment.

Anyone wishing to attend the groundbreaking is welcome, with ceremonies scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., and concluding in advance of the softball game against Texas Tech at 2 p.m.

The two programs are still seeking donations to name the last remaining lockers in the facility. Each locker is set at $2500, and the plaque coming with the purchase will include the donor’s name, graduation year for Long Beach State alumni, as well as a personal message which will be installed with each locker inside the locker room.
