LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State women's soccer team announced its schedule for the upcoming spring season. LBSU will play six matches during the months of March and April.
The 49ers will begin the spring season with a short road trip at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Mar. 1, followed by a home match at George Allen Field against the Alumni team on Mar. 2. LBSU will then take to the road for games at University of San Diego (Mar. 9) and Pepperdine (Mar. 23) before finishing out the spring at home versus Saint Mary's and San Francisco.
The 49ers return 17 players from last year's team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year and fourth overall since their first-ever bid in 2008. The spring season will allow the 49ers to prepare for the 2013 campaign after losing senior All-Americans Nadia Link and Alex Balcer, along with key starters Kelsey Wilson, Jenny Soza and Jordan Nelson.
LBSU finished last year at 12-8-0, surpassing the 10-win plateau for the seventh time in the last eight years. It also marked the third-straight year that the 49ers reached double figures in the win column.
