San Diego native to join 49ers in fall 2013
Nov. 26, 2012
LONG BEACH - Long Beach State head women's golf coach Joey Cerulle has announced the signing of Savannah Knox (San Diego/James Madison HS) to a National Letter of Intent. Knox will join the 49ers in the fall of 2013.
"Savannah is a special player that has been through a lot of adversity," Cerulle said. "She is tough, dedicated, and most importantly ready to take the leap into college golf. I'm thrilled to have her as a future 49er and think that she will be a great addition to our family here at The Beach."
A senior at James Madison High School in San Diego, Knox was named Eastern League Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011. The four-time team captain qualified for the CIF SoCal Regionals in 2009 and the CIF San Diego Section the past four years. Knox was also named first team All-City Conference the past four years and All-CIF First Team in 2009.
A five-time qualifier in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships, Knox captured two tournament wins this past summer at the FCG Golfweek West Summer Series in San Clemente and Pala Mesa and won the FCG Golfweek West Fall Series Kick-Off at Carlton Oaks. Knox also participated in this year's Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach that was featured on the Golf Channel.
