The Long Beach State women's golf team travels to the Northwest for the 31st Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by the University of Washington. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,054-yard Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. Opening round action begins on Monday (Oct. 8) at 9 a.m., followed by second round play on Tuesday (Oct. 9) at 10:30 a.m. and the final 18 holes concluding on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at 8 a.m. Live play of all three rounds will be available on Golfstat.com.
EDEAN IHLANFELDT FIELD
Senior Simone Hoey, junior Rochelle Chan, sophomore Chaewon Park and freshmen Shawnee Martinez and Kassidy Teare will represent LBSU as they'll compete against 15 other teams that features Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Seattle, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UNLV.
LAST TIME IN SAMMAMISH
The 49ers return to the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational after a two-year absence. LBSU tied for 11th place with a 104-over par 968 after recording rounds of 322, 329 and 317 at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. Former 49er Noelle Zavaleta was the top player for LBSU, tying for 20th at 17-over 233. Then-freshman Simone Hoey tied for 35th to finish at 23-over 239.
PARK LEADS 49ERS AT ROSE CITY COLLEGIATE
Sophomore Chaewon Park recorded her first top-20 finish this year, tying for 18th place at the Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore. Park finished with a 54-hole score of 15-over 231 after shooting rounds of 79, 77 and 75 to collect her second career top-20 finish. LBSU placed sixth at 63-over 927.
HOEY, 49ERS TIES FOR FIFTH IN COLORADO
Senior Simone Hoey recorded her first top-5 finish in the season opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. Hoey completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 2-under 218, shooting rounds of 73, 76 and 69. LBSU tied for fifth with Louisville, Nevada and New Mexico out of 17 teams. The 49ers finished the tournament at 32-over 896.
THE GOLD RUSH RETURNS IN 2013
LBSU is set to host The Gold Rush presented by Farmers Insurance on February 11-12, 2013 at the Yorba Linda Country Club in Yorba Linda, Calif. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will feature 11 teams (LBSU, Portland State, San Diego State, Gonzaga, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Fullerton, Santa Clara, UC Irvine, Washington State, BYU and Nevada) from five different conferences and 11 individuals.
LBSU returns to action Oct. 21-23, taking part in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV.
