Teare Advances To U.S. Women's Amateur Championship
July 7, 2014
PALOS VERDES, Calif. - Long Beach State's Kassidy Teare fired a 1-over par 72 in Monday's U.S. Women's Amateur Sectional Qualifier at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes.
Teare was among 12 players from the Palos Verdes sectional to advance to the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, Aug. 4-10, at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y.
The Vista, Calif. native posted four birdies and 12 pars during the 18-hole round.
"I'm overly excited about qualifying for the championship in New York," Teare said. "It's been a pretty busy summer for me, but I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks playing up in Washington for the WAPL Championship and now the amateur championship in August."
The soon-to-be junior qualified last month for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, July 14-19, at The Home Course in Dupont, Wash.
This is the second consecutive year that a women's golfer from LBSU has advanced to both USGA championship events as Chaewon Park participated in the WAPL and women's amateur championships last summer.
