Taverrite, Shrouds Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Long Beach State junior Felicia Taverrite and freshman Holland Shourds were selected as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, it was announced on Wednesday.

Taverrite and Shourds were among 952 women's golfers recognized with the prestigious honor.  The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.  The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Taverrite competed in six tournaments for the season, finishing with a stroke average of 80.85.  The Temecula, Calif. native posted a season low 74 in the opening round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif.  Taverrite is majoring in marketing.

Shourds played in all 12 tournaments for the 49ers, finishing with a stroke average of 76.40.  The Riverside, Calif. native was the top player in the Black & Blue Rivalry Match vs. UC Irvine at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, carding a 1-over-par 73.  The communications major recorded a season low 71 in the final round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
