IRVINE, Calif. - Long Beach State sophomores Shawnee Martinez and Kassidy Teare were named to the All-Big West Conference second team, the league office announced on Wednesday.

This is the second year in a row Martinez is on the All-Big West team. The native from Modesto, Calif. was a second-team honoree last season in her first year at LBSU.

Martinez was the top player for the 49ers at the Big West Conference Championship in San Luis Obispo, tying for ninth place with a 9-over-par 228 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.

This marked Martinez's fourth top-10 finish this season and eighth overall as she led the 49ers in six of 11 tournaments this year.

Martinez led the team this season with a scoring average of 76.0, recording her best performance at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, tying for fifth at 1-under. She tied a career low 69 in the second round of the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia, tying for 13th at 7-over.

For Teare, this is her first time being selected on the All-Big West team. The Rancho Buena Vista native finished out the season in 11th at the Big West Championship at 10-over, posting her second top-20 finish and fourth overall.

Teare led the 49ers in three tournaments this year that included two top-10 finishes in the season opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ram Classic and the UC Irvine Invitational, tying a career-low 69 in the final round of both tournaments.
