Three 49ers Named To All-Big West Conference Teams

IRVINE, Calif. - Three Long Beach State women's golfers were named to the All-Big West Conference team, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Senior Simone Hoey and freshman Shawnee Martinez were named second-team, while sophomore Chaewon Parkwas named honorable mention. This is the fourth consecutive year Hoey has been named to All-Big West, while this is Martinez' and Park's first.

LBSU closed out the season last week at the Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the San Luis Obispo Country Club, tying for fourth place at 60-over-par 924.

The 49ers finished (12 shots) ahead of third-place UC Irvine for the third consecutive tournament and won two crucial points in the Black & Blue Rivalry Series between LBSU and UCI. LBSU also finished ahead of tournament host Cal Poly (6th) by 40 strokes to gain some points in the Big West Conference Commissioner's Cup race as the first-place Mustangs holds a slim lead over the 49ers in second.

Hoey closed out a four-year career in San Luis Obispo as she tied for 17th at 15-over 234, collecting her sixth career top-20 finish. Hoey closes out the season with her second career tournament win at Fresno State Lexus Classic and was the top player at the Black & Blue Rivalry Match vs. UCI. The native from Rancho Cucamonga finishes the season with a scoring average of 76.9 and recorded four top-10's this year.

Martinez posted her second top-10 finish this season as she tied for seventh at the Big West Championship at 8-over. The Modesto native led the team this season with a scoring average of 76.8 and recorded one top-20.

Park was the top player for the 49ers at the Big West Championship, sharing fifth-place honors (+7). The native from San Pedro recorded three top-10 finishes this year and one top-20 with an average of 77.4.
