The Long Beach State women's golf team returns to action following a two-week break as the 49ers travel to South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational hosted by College of Charleston. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday (Mar. 20) with first and second round action beginning at 6 a.m. (PT), followed by the final 18 holes concluding on Tuesday (Mar. 21) at 5:45 a.m. (PT). Both days will begin with shotguns starts and will be contested at the par-72, 6,101-yard The Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
BRIAR'S CREEK FIELD
LBSU will be among an 18-team field at this year's Briar's Creek Invitational in South Carolina. The 49ers will compete with Auburn, Boston College, Campbell, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, No. 49 East Carolina, No. 6 Florida, No. 29 Illinois, Kansas, Long Beach State, Louisville, No. 14 Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, No. 34 North Carolina, No. 27 Ohio State, Penn State, No. 32 Texas Tech and No. 44 Wisconsin.
49ERS STARTING FIVE
Junior Jennifer Yu, sophomore Haley Tygret, redshirt freshman Euna Pak and freshmen Maria Davis and Holland Shourds will represent the 49ers at this year's Briar's Creek Invitational.

LAST YEAR IN SOUTH CAROLINA
The 49ers finished in 12th place at last year's 18-team Briar's Creek Invitational at Johns Island. LBSU posted a three-round score of 24-over-par 888 (290-307-291), finishing nine shots ahead of No. 30 Michigan State tied for 14th at 33-over. Former 49er Kassidy Teare led the way for the Beach, tying for 13th at 1-over 217 (75-71-71), followed by Felicia Taverrite (+10) tied for 58th, Haley Tygret (+11) tied for 61st and Jennifer Yu (+13) tied for 70th.
LAST TIME OUT
The 49ers defeated Big West Conference member UC Irvine in the fourth edition of the Black Blue Rivalry Match at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach. LBSU posted a team score of 386 to win by 10 strokes over UC Irvine as the Anteaters recorded a 396. Freshman Holland Shourds came away as the top player, carding a 1-over 73 to edge the Anteaters' Kaley In (+5) by four shots. This was the 49ers fourth consecutive victory in the Black & Blue Rivalry series.
The 49ers return to action on Sunday, Apr. 9, taking part in the three-day Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort North Course in Napa, Calif.
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO THE INLAND EMPIRE
The 2017 Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship will head to the Inland Empire as UC Riverside will host the three-day (Apr. 23-25), 54-hole tournament at Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif. The winner of the Big West Championship will receive the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament that begins on May 8 at four regional sites (Albuquerque, N.M., Lubbock, Texas, Columbus, Ohio and Greenville, N.C.).
