Women's Golf Ready To Hit The Links At Arizona Wildcat Invitational
Long Beach State travels to Arizona for the two-day tournament.
Long Beach, Calif. - Women's Golf continues the spring season as they travel to Arizona to compete in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational. The tournament will be held at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. and will host a total of 17 competing teams.
Two rounds, 36 holes, are scheduled for the first day of play on Monday, March 5, with a single round of 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.
After a solid, fifth place finish at the Rebel Beach Invitational, Long Beach State looks to carry that momentum into the upcoming tournament. The Club saw three of its athletes finish within the Top 25 for player rankings. Teammates Jennifer Yu and Cara Barker both led the Club for the tournament finishing nine-over par and tying for 17th place. Barker, who struggled in her first round, bounced back and shot consecutive rounds of 74 (+2) to finish the tournament. In round one, Yu shot one-under (71), the lowest score of the day for Long Beach State. Yu struggled in round two, but would bounce back and finish the final round one-over par (73).
Based on Golfstat rankings, the Arizona Wildcat Invitational field consists of five Top 25 teams in No. 1 UCLA, No. 7 Texas, No. 20 Purdue, hosts No. 21 Arizona and No. 25 NC State. The remaining teams rounding out the field are Long Beach State, Augusta State, Denver, Grand Canyon, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, Northern Arizona, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Portland State and UNLV.
Shotgun play for Monday, March 5, starts at 7:30 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. start time for Tuesday, March 6. Live scoring for the tournament can be found at Golfstat.com.
