Beach Moves Up To Ninth After Two Rounds At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - After two rounds of play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, the Long Beach State women's golf team recorded a 291 to finish day two in ninth place at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

LBSU improved by three shots from Sunday's opening round to move up the team standings from 12th place, posting a two-round score of 9-over-par 585.

Tournament host UNLV (-21) took over the lead from day one leader Missouri (-13) as the Rebels hold a seven-shot lead over second-place San Jose State (-14) and eight strokes over the Tigers in third.

For the second straight round, senior Jennifer Yu was the top player for the Beach, carding a 72 to move up five spots in the standings to tie for 25th at even-144.

Junior Haley Tygret sits just one shot behind at 1-over after carding a 72, moving up nine positions to tie for 30th.

Sophomore Holland Shourds turned in a 74 to tie for 47th at 4-over.

Junior Cara Barker and redshirt sophomore Euna Pak are tied for 61st at 6-over 150.  Barker posted a four-shot improvement from Sunday's opening round, shooting a 73 to move up the standings from 83rd.

Sophomore Maria Davis, competing as an individual, fired a 71 to jump in the standings by 18 spots to tie for 30th at 1-over 145.

The Rebels' Elizabeth Prior leads the field of 96 players at 11-under 133, holding a two-shot lead over two players tied for second.

Final round concludes on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. (PT) shotgun start.  Live play will be available on
