Chan, Martinez Paces LBSU at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - The Long Beach State women's golf team limped their way through the final round of the 32nd Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Wednesday morning at the Sahalee Country Club to finish in 12th place.
LBSU recorded a team-high 321 for the final round to finish the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 86-over-par 950. The 49ers held off Washington State by 10-shots as the Cougars finished in last place out of 13 teams in Sahalee.
Eleventh-ranked Stanford claimed the team championship by a comfortable 27 shots over tournament host and top-ranked Washington (+26). The Cardinal was the only team to complete the tournament under par, posting a 1-under 863.
The 49ers were paced by senior Rochelle Chan and sophomore Shawnee Martinez as both tied for 49th at 22-over 238. Chan carded her best round of tournament, shooting a 76 with two birdies to jump in the standings by seven spots. Despite suffering a mild ligament sprain during Monday's practice round, Martinez gutted out the final 18 holes to post an 81 that was highlighted by a birdie and 10 pars.
Junior Chaewon Park and sophomore Kassidy Teare finished one-shot behind to tie for 53rd at 23-over. Both players posted their highest scores of the tournament as Park turned in an 83, while Teare closed out with an 81.
Redshirt junior Ashley Greer shot an 83 to finish in 65th at 37-over.
The Cardinal's Mariah Stackhouse captured individual medalist leading the field of 67 players with a 7-under 209, edging fellow teammate Mariko Tumangan by three shots.
LBSU returns to action Oct. 27-29, traveling to Nevada for the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV.
