Oct. 8, 2013
SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Junior Chaewon Park is tied for 44th place after 36-holes of play at the 32nd Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club and lead Long Beach State to place 12th.
Park carded an opening round score of 2-over 74 after posting two birdies and four bogeys to tie for 12th. After battling rain showers throughout the day and a 25-minute delay due to hail, Park turned in an 82 in the afternoon round to fall in the standings into a 44th place tie.
Eleventh-ranked Stanford (-7) leads the field of 13 teams by 21 shots over tournament host and top-ranked Washington and No. 28 Oregon (+140 tied for second.
Limping her way throughout the whole day, sophomore Shawnee Martinez gutted out one of her best performances as 49er as she suffered a mild ligament sprain to her left ankle during Monday's practice round. Martinez is currently tied for 47th after shooting an opening round 79 and came back with a one-stroke improvement in the second round to post a 78.
After posting the tournament's highest round of 90, redshirt junior Ashley Greer posted a 10-stroke improvement in the second round for an 80 to finish in 65th.
Stanford's Mariko Tumangan sits on top of the leaderboard of 67 players at 7-under, holding a one-stroke lead over fellow teammate Mariah Stackhouse.
Second round play will officially conclude on Wednesday morning as nine players were not able to finish their last hole on Tuesday due to darkness. Final round action will begin with a 7:45 a.m. start for LBSU on Wednesday. The 49ers will once again be paired with Columbia beginning at the 10th tee. Live play can be followed on Golfstat.com.
