Beach Moves Up To Seventh After Two Rounds In Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Long Beach State posted a seven-shot improvement in Monday's second round of the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club, finishing the day in seventh-place.

The Beach moved up three spots from Sunday's opening round, scoring a 290 for a two-round score of 11-over-par 587.

San Jose State took over the top spot, leading the field of 15 teams at 1-under 575, as the Spartans holds a three shot lead over New Mexico State (+2) in second and eight strokes over tournament host Colorado State (+7) in third.

For the second straight day, Haley Tygret was the top player for the Beach, shooting a 73 to tie for 13th at 1-over 145.

Euna Pak, Savannah Knox and Jennifer Yu are tied for 23rd at 4-over.  Pak and Knox carded a 73 to move up 21 spots, while Yu posted a 71 to jump 34 spots.

Cara Barker shot a 74 to move up 10 spots, tying for 34th at 5-over.

Holland Shourds and Breann Fox, competing as individuals for the Beach, are tied for 53rd and 73rd respectively.  Shourds shot a 75 to move up the standings by four spots, while Fox fired a 77 to move up two positions.

The Aggies' Suthavee Chanachai sits on top of the leaderboard of 84 players at 11-under, as she leads by eight shots over two players tied for second.

Final round play is scheduled for Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (PT).  Live play will be on Golfstat.com.
