Shawnee Martinez Records Second Career Top-20 At Minnesota Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Long Beach State sophomore Shawnee Martinez carded a 77 in the final round of the Minnesota Invitational on Tuesday at the Minikahda Club to tie for 14th place.
LBSU posted a final round score of 313, placing ninth at 70-over-par 934.
Kent State won the team title at 38-over 902 as the Golden Flashes won by one shot over second-place Illinois (+39) and 11 strokes over tournament host Minnesota (+47) in third.
Martinez recorded her second career top-20 finish with her performance the past two days in Minneapolis. The Modesto native posted 14 pars with three bogeys and one double-bogey in her last 18 holes of the tournament.
Sophomore Kassidy Teare posted her best round of the tournament with a 76 to tie for 37th at 22-over, while freshman Sachi Hamada turned in an 82 to place 40th at 23-over to complete her first collegiate tournament.
Kent State's Jennifer Ha claimed individual medalist with a 1-under 215, winning by seven shots over Stephanie Miller of Illinois.
LBSU returns to action Oct. 8-9, traveling to Sammamish, Wash., for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
