Beach In 10th Place After One Round In Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Long Beach State women's golf team kicked off the fall season shooting an opening round score of 9-over-par 297 in the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

UC Irvine leads the field of 15 teams at 3-under 285, as the Anteaters holds a two-shot lead over Indiana (-1) in second and four strokes over San Francisco (+1) in third.
Junior Haley Tygret was the top player for the Beach, shooting an even 72 to tie for 12th, followed by redshirt senior Savannah Knox, junior Cara Barker and redshirt sophomore Euna Pak carding a 75, tying for 44th.
Senior Jennifer Yu posted a 77 to tie for 57th.
Junior Breann Fox and sophomore Holland Shourds, competing as individuals for the Beach, tied for 57th and 75th respectively.  Shourds shot a 77, while Fox recorded an 81.
The Anteaters' Avery French sits on top of the leaderboard of 84 players at 5-under 67.
Second round play is scheduled for Monday with the Beach teeing off at 7:45 a.m. (PT).  Live play can be followed on Golfstat.com.
