49ers Complete Day One At The Minnesota Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Shawnee Martinez shot a second round 75 to tie for 13th place at the Minnesota Invitational on Monday afternoon at The Minikahda Club.
Long Beach State finished the day in eighth with a two-round score of 45-over-par 621. The 49ers posted a 311 score in the opening round to place seventh and returned in the afternoon round with a 310.
Illinois leads the field of 12 teams at 27-over as the Fighting Illini holds a five-shot lead over tournament host Minnesota and Kent State (+32). Texas State and Nebraska (+39) are tied for fourth, while San Diego State and Augusta State (+42) are tied for sixth as the Aztecs and Jaguars holds a three-stroke lead over LBSU.
Martinez tied for 23rd after completing the opening round with a 78, recording just one birdie for the morning while making seven bogeys. The sophomore from Modesto improved by three-shots in the second round to move up in the standings by 10 spots to finish with two birdies and 11 pars.
Redshirt junior Ashley Greer finished second for the 49ers as she tied for 21st at 11-over 155. Greer posted an opening round 79 to tie for 27th with two birdies and eight pars. She came back in the second round with a three-stroke improvement to post a 76 to move up in the standings that was highlighted by three birdies and eight pars.
Senior Rochelle Chan is tied for 26th at 12-over after recordings rounds of 76 and 80.
Freshman Sachi Hamada made her 49er debut, tying for 30th at 13-over after shooting rounds of 78 and 79.
Sophomore Kassidy Teare tied for 44th at 18-over.
Kent State's Jennifer Ha sits on top of the leaderboard with a 3-over 147 as she holds a one-shot lead over Stephanie Miller of Illinois.
Final round play concludes on Tuesday with a 7 a.m. (PST) shotgun start. LBSU will be paired with Augusta State and Cal State Fullerton.
