SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Simone Hoey shot an even 72 in Monday's second round of the Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the San Luis Obispo Country Club to finish in fourth place.

Long Beach State posted a second round 305 for a 36-hole total of 35-over 611 to place third. The 49ers are nine strokes behind UC Irvine (+26) in second and 11 shots behind two-time defending Big West champion and No. 22 UC Davis (+24).

The Aggies posted a 295 on Monday to take over the top spot from Irvine as the Anteaters shot a 302 to finish in second. Cal State Fullerton (+37) is fourth, followed by Cal State Northridge (+45), Cal Poly (+53) and UC Riveside (+68).

Hoey improved by five shots from her opening round score of 77 on Sunday. The junior from Rancho Cucamonga posted five birdies for the round while she didn't record a single birdie in the first round. Hoey made nine pars, while recording three bogeys and one double-bogey.

Freshman Chaewon Park carded a 78 with two birdies and five bogeys to tie for 10th at 9-over 153.

Seniors Monica Villarreal and Noelle Zavaleta are tied for 22nd at 13-over 157. Villarreal shot a 78, while Zavaleta posted an 82.

Sophomore Rochelle Chan fired a 77, improving by five shots to tie for 26th at 15-over 159.

Bev Vatananugulkit of UC Davis sits on top of the leaderboard of 35 players after shooting a 72 for a 3-over 147 to hold a one-stroke lead over teammate Amy Simanton and Ronnie Valerio of UC Irvine.

Final round play concludes on Tuesday with LBSU scheduled to tee off at 8:50 a.m. with UC Davis and UC Irvine. The winner of the Big West Championship receives the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament that begins on May 10 at three regional sites.
