#LBSU Places Third At Big West Conference Championship To End Season

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Sophomore Shawnee Martinez posted a final round score of 76 at the Big West Conference Championsnip at San Luis Obispo Country Club tying for ninth place, leading Long Beach State to third.
LBSU recorded the second best score of the day with a 305, finishing the three-day, 54-hole score of 46-over-par 922. The 49ers finished nine shots behind Cal State Northridge (+35) in second.
Thirty-seventh ranked UC Davis captured the team title with a 19-over 895, recording their fifth conference title, becoming just the second team in league history to win five straight Big West Women's Golf Championships.
Martinez began the final day with three straight pars from the first hole before picking up her only bogey on the front-nine. The Modesto native would go onto to collect five consecutive pars to make the turn at 1-over. She would record four more pars before posting her second and third bogeys on Nos. 14 and 17 to close out the back-nine at 2-over for a 76.
Sophomore Kassidy Teare finished one shot behind after carding a 78 to place 11th at 10-over with two birdies and 10 pars.
Junior Chaewon Park finished in 12th at 11-over after shooting a 75 with two birdies and 12 pars.
Sophomore Janelle Sua carded her best round of the championship, with a 76, tying for 19th at 16-over.
Senior Rochelle Chan recorded her best round of the tournament with a 79, finishing in 36th at 29-over.
Martina Edberg of Cal State Fullerton captured individual medalist on a one-hole playoff with the Matadors; Clariss Guce.
