49ers Win Black & Blue Rivalry Match vs. UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - Long Beach State recored a 20-over par 304 to win the inaugural Black & Blue Rivalry Match on Monday morning at Strawberry Farms Golf Club.
The match featured the 49ers and UC Irvine as all players from both teams participated in this event that was scored as a six count five.
LBSU won by five shots as the Anteaters posted a 309 (+25).
Hoey started the round with her first of three birdies for the day on the par-4 10th hole. The Rancho Cucamonga native went on to score six pars and two bogeys to stay 1-over on the back-nine. Hoey recorded her third bogey on the par-4 No. 1 hole soon after making the turn. She would go on to collect two birdies, one bogey and five pars to finish the front side even.
Sophomore Chaewon Park shot a 77 to finish in sixth, while fellow classmate Bow-Kay Salotti tied for seventh with a 78 and freshman Shawnee Martinez placed 10th at 9-over. Junior Rochelle Chan finished in 14th (+14).
LBSU will host next year's Black & Blue Rivalry Match at a site to be determined.
The 49ers returns to action Apr. 15-16, traveling to Central California for the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic at Copper River Country Club in Fresno.
