49ers In Second Place At The Gold Rush Presented By Farmers Insurance

YORBA LINDA, Calif. - Senior Rochelle Chan is tied for third place after two rounds of play at The Gold Rush presented by Farmers Insurance, leading the Long Beach State women's golf team to second at Yorba Linda Country Club.
LBSU posted an opening round score of 305 to tie for fourth, carding a five-shot improvement in the second round for a 300 to move up to second.
Forty-seventh ranked Gonzaga leads the field of 11 teams by 13 shots over the 49ers and 15 strokes over Cal State Fullerton (+31) in third.
Chan carded a 36-hole score of 3-over 147 to finish seven shots behind Gonzaga's Alice Kim (-4) who sits on top of the leaderboard of 60 players. The Torrance native posted rounds of 74 and 73, while collecting a total of four birdies for the day.
Sophomore Shawnee Martinezis two shots behind at 5-over, tying for fifth after recording rounds of 75 and 74 with three birdies.
Sophomore Janelle Sua is tied for 33rd at 15-over.
Final round play concludes on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, with LBSU paired with the Titans and Bulldogs.
