LBSU ties for fifth place at Anteater Invitational
March 27, 2012 DOVE CANYON, Calif. - Long Beach State recorded a final round 310 to remain tied for fifth place at the Anteater Invitational at the Dove Canyon Country Club. LBSU tied with UC Riverside to finish the 54-hole tournament at 69-over-par 921. Washington State won the team championship by six strokes over second-place BYU. Tournament host UC Irvine placed fourth, finishing six shots ahead of LBSU. Senior Monica Villarreal led the way for LBSU, tying for seventh with a final round score of 77 to finish at 12-over 225. This is Villarreal's second top-10 finish this season as she placed fifth at the Folino Invitational in February. Freshman Bow-Kay Salotti, playing as an individual, shot a 79 to finish in 10th at 13-over 226. This is Salotti's first top-10 finish as a 49er. Sophomore Ashley Greer, also playing as an individual, posted her best career finish as she carded an 82 to tie for 24th at 20-over 233. Sophomore Rochelle Chan (+21) shot a 75, tying for 28th, while junior Simone Hoey (+23) carded a 78, tying for 36th. Senior Noelle Zavaleta and freshman Chaewon Park (+26) tied for 43rd. Mallory Kent of Washington State won individual medalist by one shot with a 7-over 220. LBSU returns to action Apr. 16-17, traveling to Half Moon Bay for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Oregon and UC Davis.
