Sua, Teare Paces 49ers At Bruin Wave Invitational

TARZANA, Calif. - Sophomores Janelle Sua and Kassidy Teare are tied for 28th after two rounds of play at the Bruin Wave Invitational, leading Long Beach State to 10th on Monday at El Caballero Country Club.
LBSU currently holds a one-shot lead over No. 43 UNLV tied for 11th with Washington State at 44-over and three-strokes over No. 44 San Diego State (+46) in 13th.
Top-ranked USC leads the field of 17 teams at 3-under as the Trojans holds a five-shot lead over tournament co-hosts No. 2 UCLA (+2) in second and No. 17 Pepperdine in third at 10 shots behind.
Sua carded an opening round 74 with two birdies to tie for 20th, while Teare shot a 78 to tie for 46th. After completing the first round, Sua slipped in the standings as she carded a 78, while Teare make a four-stroke improvement for a 74 to jump in the standings by 18 spots.
Senior Rochelle Chan carded an 80 in the opening round to tie for 53rd with two birdies. After making a two-shot improvement, Chan would finish the afternoon round with a 78 to tie for 51st with one birdie.
Junior Chaewon Park and sophomore Shawnee Martinez tied for 54th at 15-over 159. Both players recorded identical scores of 78 and 81 as Martinez posted just one birdie for the day in the second round.
The Trojans' Doris Chen sits on top of the leaderboard of 88 players at 5-under, holding a one-shot lead over three players tied for second.
LBSU will be paired with the Rebels and Cougars for the final round and will start at 7:30 a.m. from the 10th tee.
