Long Beach State improved to 2-1 with a second 5-0 win over Loyola Marymount in the 49ers third home match at the sand volleyball courts. Jocelyn Neely and Lauren Minkel led the way for the 49ers with a 21-6, 21-6 win in the third flight.
Down 2-0 after two flights, Long Beach State rallied to win two of the three matches they needed, but a close loss in the third match of the three allowed Pepperdine to hand Long Beach State its very first team loss in sand volleyball.
Long Beach State will host Pepperdine in the second dual match ever for the 49ers at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sand Volleyball Courts.
Caitlin Ledoux and Tara Roenicke defeated USC's Katie Fuller and Natalie Hagglund 18-21, 21-12, 16-14 on Sunday, highlighting Long Beach State's effort in the pairs championship between LBSU, USC, Florida State, and Pepperdine in the final day of the three-day event.
