Women's Hoops Continues Road Swing at Arizona, Lady Griz Classic
The Long Beach State women's basketball team continues its six-game road swing as the Beach travels to Tucson, Ariz., to take on the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. PT. Following their game in Arizona, the Beach will make their way to Missoula, Mont., for the Lady Griz Classic where they will go up against Oral Roberts on Friday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. PT, before playing host Montana on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. PT.

Quick Hits
• The Beach are looking for their first win of the 2017-18 season after opening the year with five losses against Pepperdine, Montana State, Loyola Marymount, USC, and San Diego.
• This is the first time since the 2010-11 season that the Beach has opened the season with five straight losses. In 2010, LBSU suffered six-straight losses to open the season before defeating NC Central.
• Long Beach State is averaging 12.0 steals per game which leads the Big West. The Beach have led the league in steals in each of the last four seasons.
• In addition to leading the league in steals, Long Beach State also leads the Big West in three-point field goals attempted per game (24.8).
• Freshman guard Shanaijah Davison has been on fire offensively. She is currently leading the team with 15.6 points per game after exploding for a career-high 29 points at USC last week. She has recorded four double-figure scoring games in five contests and has tallied 20-plus points on two occasions.
• Freshman guard Ma'Qhi Berry made her Beach debut with a team-high 16-point effort against Pepperdine and has continued to excel offensively as she is the team's second-leading scorer with 9.8 points per game.
• Freshman Emma Merriweather is the Beach's leading rebounder as she averages 7.2 boards per contest, while adding 7.2 points per game. She also leads the team with seven blocks.
• Berry and Davison have combined for 23 assists as the duo leads the team with 12 and 11 helpers, respectively.
• Senior guard Cecily Wilson has been stout defensively as she is the team leader with 14 steals on the year as she leads a quartet of players who have double-figure steals in Davison (12), Berry (10), and junior Martina McCowan (10).

Scouting the Wildcats
Arizona owns a 2-3 record on the year after having opened the season with a pair of wins, before dropping its last three contests. The Wildcats defeated Iona College (71-58) and Utah State (65-49), before suffering losses against Loyola Marymount (84-70), TCU (68-59), and CSUN (66-63).

The Wildcats are averaging 65.6 points per game, while allowing 65.0. Arizona is led offensively by JaLea Bennett's 12.8 points per game as she leads a quartet of double-figure scorers in Marlee Kyles (12.0 ppg), Destiny Graham (11.8 ppg), and Sam Thomas (10.4 ppg).

Thomas is also the Wildcats' leading rebounder with 8.0 boards per contest to go along with a team-best 13 blocks, 10 steals and 15 assists.

Series vs. Arizona
The series against the Wildcats dates back to 1977 and Long Beach State leads the all-time series 15-6. The Beach opened the series with 14 straight wins before Arizona collected six of their own. In their last meeting in 2012, Long Beach State came away with a 71-61 victory at the Walter Pyramid. Arizona is now looking for its first win over the Beach since 2011.

Scouting the Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts is 2-3 on the year as it is coming off of a 78-56 win over Houston Baptist. The Golden Eagles' other victory came at the hands of Oklahoma Panhandle in an 88-35 romp.

The Golden Eagles have four double-figure scorers on the squad led by Maria Martinez's 11.0 points per game. Her teammates Sarah Garvie (10.8 ppg), Maya Mayberry (10.6 ppg), and Faith Ihim (10.4 ppg) round out the remainder of the leading scorers on the team.

Martinez is also the team's leading rebounder with 9.2 boards per game. She also leads the Golden Eagles with 14 assists, seven steals and three blocks.

Series vs. Oral Roberts
Long Beach State and Oral Roberts have never faced off on the basketball court before. Friday's contest between the two teams, will be the first in women's basketball program history.

Scouting the Lady Griz
Montana is 0-5 this year as the Lady Griz are looking for their first win of the season. Thus far, they have dropped contests to Wyoming (67-62), Kentucky (71-54), Gonzaga (70-55), Indiana State (57-45), and Marquette (87-68).

McKenzie Johnston is Montana's only double-figure scorer as she averages 10.6 points per game. Jace Henderson is the team's leading rebounder with 7.2 boards per game, while adding 9.0 points per contest. Johnston also leads the Lady Griz with 16 assists, while Mekayla Isaak leads the team with five blocks, and Sophia Stiles owns a team-best six steals.

Series vs. Montana
The all-time series between Long Beach State and Montana is tied at 1-1. The two teams will meet on Saturday for the first time since 2005. In their first-ever meeting in 2004, LBSU defeated Montana 61-53 at the Walter Pyramid. A year later, the Lady Griz held off the Beach, 58-57, in Missoula to even the all-time series.

Coming Up
Following the Lady Griz Classic, Long Beach State will conclude its six-game road swing with a trip to Phoenix, Ariz., to take on Grand Canyon University on Thursday, December 7 at 6 p.m. PT.
