IRVINE, Calif. - Long Beach State had four women's basketball players named to the 2009-10 Big West Winter All-Academic team, the conference office announced Thursday.

Seniors Lauren Sims, Brett Timmons and Ally Wade, and sophomore Tipesa Moorer were all recognized for their work both on and off the court.

Sims, who was tabbed a second-team Academic All-American earlier in the year, picked up her third career Big West all-academic honor. The Fullerton, Calif., native was the team's second-leading scorer as she averaged 11.6 points per game. She led all 49ers with a 38.9 3-point field goal percentage and also set an LBSU single-season record with 68 threes made. Sims, a two-time All-Big West honorable mention pick, is majoring in biology-physiology with a minor in chemistry.

Timmons (Irvine, Calif.) finished the campaign averaging 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game. She netted a career-high 13 points at Texas-Pan American and a season-best nine rebounds against UC Davis. This is the second BWC all-academic honor for Timmons, who is majoring in journalism.

Wade, a three-time Big West All-Academic selection, averaged a career-high 11.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per outing in 2009-10. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native reached double-figures 17 times, including four 20-plus point games. An All-Big West honorable mention pick, Wade grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Cal State Bakersfield. She is majoring in criminal justice.

Moorer finished the season averaging 6.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. She recorded her first double-double with a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds at Pacific. The Harbor City, Calif., native is majoring in communications.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
