LBSU Earns No. 15 Seed, Will Take on No. 2 Seed Oregon State in NCAA Tournament

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Long Beach State women's basketball team earned a No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will take on No. 2 seed Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., on Friday at 2 p.m. (PT).

The Beach earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big West Conference Championship on Saturday with a 56-55 victory over UC Santa Barbara. Long Beach State will take a 23-10 record into the NCAA Tournament and have won six of their last seven contests.

The Beach are coached by Jody Wynn who is in her eighth year at the helm and owns a 137-118 career record. In her eight years at the Beach, Wynn has led the team to eight Big West Conference appearances and three WNIT showings. This will be Long Beach State's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1992.

LBSU will take on No. 8 Oregon State which finished the season with a 29-4 record. The Beavers were 16-2 in the Pac-12 where they earned a No. 1 seed in the Conference Tournament. The Beavers made it to the championship game, but fell to No. 2 seed Stanford, 48-43.

The Beach and the Beavers will meet for the eighth time in program history and Long Beach State holds the edge in the all-time series 4-3. The two teams will face off for the first time since 2010 when the Beavers defeated the Beach in Corvallis, Ore. Prior to that meeting, the two teams had not squared off since 1999 when LBSU earned a 66-56 win over Oregon State in Long Beach, Calif.
