IRVINE, Calif. - Three Long Beach State women's basketball players earned All-Big West honors the conference office announced Monday. Whitney Fields was a second team selection and Lauren Sims earned honorable mention recognition, while Adelle Walton was named to the all-freshman team.

Fields, a junior forward from Miami, Fla., led The Beach on the year averaging a team-high 12.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per outing. She started 27 of 29 games played, reaching double figures in 18 contests, including a career-best 30-point performance at Loyola Marymount. Fields recorded 10 double-doubles with eight of them coming in league play. She finished the conference season tops in the Big West with 9.3 rebounds per game, while also ranking among the top 10 in scoring, field goal percentage, steals and blocked shots.

Sims (Fullerton, Calif.) started all 16 of the 49ers' Big West games, averaging 11.3 points per contest to rank 14th in the league. She also finished among the conference leaders in 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage. The junior guard had a stretch of four consecutive 20-plus scoring games from Feb. 5-14, which included her second career double-double at Cal State Northridge. Sims has also excelled off the court as she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII team for the second straight year.

Walton, a freshman guard, had a stellar first year at Long Beach State, earning the starting nod in all but three of 24 games played. She finished the season tops on the team with 71 assists and was fifth on the squad with 7.6 points per outing. The El Cajon, Calif., native poured in a career-best 16 points at Cal Poly and eventually matched that performance at Pacific.
