Long Beach State Women’s Basketball Has Three Named Big West All-Conference

LONG BEACH – Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Big West Conference announced the Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams on Monday morning and Long Beach State had three players earn Honorable Mention and two named to the All-Freshman Team.

Senior guard Cecily Wilson, along with freshmen Shanaijah Davison and Naomi Hunt each garnered Honorable Mention selections after solid regular season performances. Davison and Hunt were also named to the All-Freshman Team after turning in outstanding rookie seasons.

Wilson earned the honors after finishing the regular season averaging 10.3 points per game and leading the Beach in rebounding with 6.0 boards per game. She also leads the team with 65 steals, while adding 49 assists and 13 blocks. Wilson owns 15 double-figure scoring games this season including two 20-point performances and four double-doubles. The product out of Gilbert, Ariz., has been a key component to Long Beach State’s late season run which catapulted the Beach into the Big West Conference Tournament. Wilson’s leadership both on and off the court was instrumental in Long Beach State’s finishing the regular season on a five-game winning streak.

Davison, a freshman guard out of Woodland, Calif., closed out the regular season as the team’s leading scorer as she averages 13.9 points per game. She boasts eight 20-point performances and 19 double-figure scoring games including six straight to finish the regular season. Additionally, Davison adds 2.6 rebounds per game, 71 assists, 41 steals and three blocks on the year. She poured in a career-high 29 points on two occasions this season and her late season offensive attack has helped lead the Beach to the Big West Conference Tournament.



Hunt, a freshman forward, was consistent all season averaging 8.0 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game, while totaling 29 steals, 26 assists and 10 blocks. The Fullerton, Calif., native leads Long Beach State in shooting as she owns a 47.4 field goal percentage (91-for-192) and is a stout 43.8 percent from long distance (46-for-105). Her 46 made three-point field goals is a new single-season record among freshman at Long Beach State. In her first season, Hunt has recorded nine double-figure scoring contests, including a pair of 20-point efforts. She has been a significant contributor and key component to the team reaching the Big West Conference Tournament for the ninth straight season.
