Wynn became the sixth head coach in program history on April 7, 2009. Since her arrival at LBSU, the 49ers have seen rapid improvements with two double-figure win campaigns and an appearance in the Big West Tournament championship game. Last year, the 49ers qualified for their third-straight Big West Tournament under the guidance of Wynn, and found themselves one win away from earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. LBSU came back from a 19-point deficit on the road to defeat No. 2 seed Cal State Northridge in the first round before upending top-seeded Cal Poly, 51-48, in a semifinal match-up. Long Beach State eventually fell to a streaking UC Santa Barbara, 63-54, in its first championship appearance in 11 years. Three 49ers were named to the all-tournament team, while Wynn also saw two of her athletes, Tipesa Moorer and Alex Sanchez, garner All-Big West honors. LBSU finished the season with an overall record of 14-18, marking the most wins by a 49er squad since the 2005-06 season. In her first year at Long Beach State, Wynn led a senior-laden squad to a fourth-place finish in conference play. The 49ers earned a bye into the quarterfinal round where they fell to UC Santa Barbara. LBSU closed out the campaign with a 13-17 overall record and a 9-7 mark in conference action. The 49ers swept eventual Big West Tournament champion UC Riverside and defending Big West champion UCSB during the regular season. Long Beach State also defeated the Gauchos on their home floor for the first time in 19 years. In 2010-11, LBSU finished sixth in the Big West and had two players named to the all-conference team. The 49ers also claimed the Big West Freshman of the Year and the Big West Hustle Player of the Year awards. Wynn came to Long Beach State with 13 years of collegiate coaching experience under her belt. On the court, Wynn coached seven All-Pac 10 performers, a conference freshman of the year and a WNBA draft pick. In 2008-09, Wynn helped the Trojans advance to their first-ever Pac-10 championship game, with five players garnering all-league honors. In her first season at USC (2004-05), the Women of Troy tied for second in the conference and rolled into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997, finishing the campaign ranked 22nd in the nation. One year later, the Trojans were back in the postseason, advancing to the second round. Wynn entered the coaching ranks in 1996-97 as an assistant at Pepperdine under former USC head coach Mark Trakh. She helped the Waves to six postseason appearances, including three bids to the NCAA Tournament. In her eight seasons in Malibu, Pepperdine had six 20-win campaigns and captured four West Coast Conference championships. Wynn was also a prep standout at Brea Olinda High School, where she guided the Ladycats to three California state championships. She earned CIF Southern Section and Orange County Player of the Year accolades in 1991 and 1992, while also being tabbed a USA Today and Streets & Smith honorable mention All-American.
